No more excuses not to write. Testing picture uploading too.

Just a few nights ago, my mind decided to tinkle all my senses towards thinking about of all things.. pink fluffy cotton candy.

I dont mind really. Good to know the art-non finance part of my brain is still kicking.

My laptop happened to be on at the time, and without much thought, I did an image search on Google for “pink fluffy cotton candy”

Lo and behold, the first image on the first row of the search results. I liked it, a lot.

Boo said  ”the picture is so us, it really captured us they way we usually are”.

And its true. He teases me a lot, plus he’s amazingly funny, so instead of teasing back (well occasionally I do) I often end up just laughing till my cheeks hurt. Ta-da picture!

On a different note, I think the Malay songket is so elegant, yet manly. The songket is the piece of woven material that my fiance ( wide grin that I can call him that now) is wearing around his waist. The color blends with his baju Melayu so organically… the look is perfect.

And he is tall, the height allows the songket to fall well.

Yes, I am not going to hold myself back from any public display of adoration for my fiance.

He is fine looking and he does justice to the baju Melayu and songket!

I’ve always believed that wearing a hijab & having style are not two separate concepts that cant jive together.

My personal preference with choice & style of hijab has always been to keep it simple but not plain. I’m thinking of putting together a hijab look book (through my blog of course, not an actual book).We’ll see how that comes along.

1) Wearing it loose with a vintage tee , using two separate scarfs (inner layer and second layer on top) 2) the full tuck by the chin with inner 3) wearing it loose again, also with inner 4) the full tuck without inner (just one scarf)

The latest Economist arrived this morning. The cover to them must’ve depicted radical. I say just put David Cameron in one of Lady Gaga’s outfits. That would spell radical like no other. Well to each his own.

Just as I was emptying 3/4 of my mug of coffee down the sink I realised that the goal of staying away from coffee is going to be achieved after all. I seem to drain out more each time.

To be honest I dont drink a lot of coffee, AT ALL. Real big time coffee drinkers would probably knock the socks out of me for making my coffee-drinking an issue. I have make at most 3 mugs of coffee a week – if you count how much I actually drink and subtract how much I end up draining out in the sink – then I’d say I only drink barely a mug a week.

I do intend to be caffeine free (well at least caffeine from coffee). I’m confident I’d be. Although I don’t think I will ever stop considering the smell of freshly brewed coffee sexy.

Above : a cup of hot choc for Boo, and if I recall correctly a latte for me. Bought to keep us warm while we wait by the London Eye to welcome 2010. Temperature was below freezing. I stayed in Boo’s jacket most of the time – was like a kangaroo pouch for me. It was worth the wait.

Weather is just so much more pleasant these days. The days are longer which is a plus point. Sunset was at 330pm during winter. My body couldnt adjust – and I ended up having 2 dinners and supper everyday. First dinner at 5pm then another at 8pm and since I’d be up studying.. snacks at 11pm. But surprisingly and much to my dismay, I didnt gain any weight, no thanks to my high metabolism rate, and my body using all available energy to keep me warm during winter. So I still maintained being French sized.

Choice of things to wear has expanded considerably too in spring, now that I’m not stuck with heavy winter clothing.I really disliked the winter days when I had to wrap myself up, and look like a miniature, more colorful version of the Marshmallow man. And since spring’s here, that means my spring-summer pumps are out too! I was pretty stuck with just rotating the 3 pairs of boots I had during winter, which was a super bore.

Last weekend I was in London for the UKEC Graduate Fair – SC had a booth as part of our UK Milkround, and I travelled down from Durham to help out. The Wilkins Building of UCL was abuzz with eager, fresh blooded graduates scrambling for job opportunities. Eagerness seemed to be the theme of the day. Graduates decked in their finest suits, arms filled to full length with company goodie bags.I on the other hand almost lost my voice after having to repeat myself so many times (from 11am-5pm) - when responding to the same questions from thegrads ‘What does the SC do?’ ‘What is it like working for the SC?’ We should seriously consider having one of those interactive machine things – have prerecorded answers to FAQs and then just have the grads press the right button to hear the answers to their questions. Brilliant!

On a different note, my brother just got back from Spain. His reply to my message when I asked how was the trip was  ’Spain best gilerrrr, adik suka Barcelona’ (‘Spain was awesomeee, i liked Barcelona) Yes, i purposely added the 3 e’s at the end of awesome to correspond with the 3 r’s at the end of the Bahasa equivalent (although gile actually translates to crazy in English) ok nevermind, drop the semantics. Bottom line is – my brother had a great time in Spain. Now am just waiting for him to upload the pictures for me to indulge in some jealous-wish-i was-there session. I wanted to join my parents when they went to Spain last winter, but I had classes (the nerd in me is beginning to become more prominent  by the day, its scary). I’m definitely gonna make sure I do some travelling this summer.
