the more Apples the merrier

In Art, Life, Malaysia, Music, Style on December 15, 2008 at 4:04 am

I currently own 3 members of the Apple family. The Macbook, Shuffle and iTouch. All serving different purposes.

  • Macbook as my laptop (duh)
  • the Shuffle – for music while at my workstation, while walking alone anywhere, working out at the gym
  • the iTouch – for movies, pics and tunes, especially when travelling and there’s waiting involved

Now I’m considering to expand the family and introduce another member, the Nano-Chromatic. I am just hooked on the colors  esp purple (my fav color) and yellow. I actually kinda like yellow more than purple. But have to view it upclose first to decide.

Guess I’ll have to accept it if anyone wants to call me an Apple-snob or brat huh ;p what to do, they’re irresistable!

One for the Ladies

Lady #1

Joanna Wang

Thanks to Mrs Foo, I’m now listening to the wonderful sounds of Joanna Wang (Album: Start From Here). She’s a Taiwanese artist who’s based in California (if the information I gg-ed is correct) and is just extremely pleasant to listen to. If you enjoy listening to Norah Jones, Corrine Bailey Rae..then you’d love Joanna Wang.

Roberta FlackLady #2

I bought the Best of Roberta Flack. Mum adores her stuff, Dad told me he used to listen to her when he was younger on his old record player. They still listen to her now, but on our burn-your-own CDs. Roberta Flack is one that I would dish out RM43.50 for, and it’s worth it. how can anyone not love “Feel Like Making Love” “The First Time I Saw Your Face” or the classic “Killing Me Softly”

Travel Notes

Lady #3

What I picked up at Kinokuniya for my reading pleasure last weekend. She’s amazing.

Music when I was a growing up

In Art, Music on March 12, 2008 at 2:27 pm

the American Idol contestants had to sing numbers from the Beatles tonight, I only managed to watch the last few performances.

I love listening to the Beatles, my entire family does actually, right down to Nasha. All thanks to my folks who exposed us to those lovely tunes when we were very young.

Anytime we were in the car, on road trips.. we’d listen to the Beatles, James Taylor, Carol King,Crosby Still Nash and Young, the Carpenters, Sergio Mendes, Pink Floyd, Average White Band, Deep Purple, Bob Dylan, Rolling Stones,Cat Stevens..those are amongst the favorites.  We knew most of the songs by heart, except for ones by Bob Dylan, we were a bit too young then to digest his pieces haha.

The music stayed with us till today, amongst my compilation of tracks from Ne-yo, Beyonce, yummy Pharrell and other latest acts, I’ve got the “oldies” compilation as well, which I will gladly listen to when I need an oldie fix :-) Sister will download the tracks for my parents, and I’ll just get it off her, or sometimes nick a CD from Mum or Dad’s car ;p

I am so grateful that I got that music exposure…it has influenced me and the way I appreciate music, made me eclectic. When I get kids of my own, Insya Allah, I wont just play them the Justin Timberlake, Had Kendi, Madison Avenue, Fergie tracks, but I’ll fuse some Beatles, the Carpenters and James Taylor as well. Forming a perfect blend of tunes. Baru la my little ones got spunk! :-)

So heres to music and more.

Short Drive

In Life, Malaysia, Music, Time Off on September 26, 2007 at 2:12 pm

Had to run some errands just now.

I dont remember the last time I did this, but I decided to drive with the window down. Driving in Shah Alam is, contrary to popular belief-pleasant [the Istana side of Shah Alam], not that much traffic, very few stop lights, wide roads, doesnt feel crampy and congested.

That made driving with the window down a surprisingly, not-too-bad experience..

Slipped Corinne Bailey Rae in the player, selected one of my fav track Trouble Sleeping [wind down tune after a hard day]

cars shooshing by

suburb night breeze and a hint of fume..

ah yes, my window-down driving experience..

Trouble Sleeping- enjoy

Put Your Hands Up

5 minutes break..

I’m working on a policy paper that’s due for management review pretty soon and the track I’m listening to to get me in the mood and stimulate my brain for systematic thought is..Fedde le Grand’s “Put Your Hands Up”.

Actually its stimulating me to do something else as well (Nigs you know what eh? haha) Told Madame (my colleague Azrina..I call her Madame)..that FF should use the track for the line dance funk class…I’m sure it’d really work up a sweat..and crowd ;p

I’ve been repeating the track again and again..it works for me. Alrighty break’s over.
